WealthBuilder — Financial Independence Calculator is a planning tool for people who manage their own path to financial independence, including the self-employed running self-directed Solo 401(k) plans. This page explains how to get help and answers the questions we hear most often.
WealthBuilder brings your whole financial picture into one place — every asset class (401(k), IRA, Roth, HSA, brokerage, real estate with mortgage and rental income, mineral rights, and other passive income), W-2 and 1099 income checked against the official 2026 IRS limits, and your net worth, FI number, and year-by-year timeline. You can model Coast FI and Barista FI, view a retirement paycheck (RMDs, Social Security, federal tax, and what you actually keep), plan Roth conversions, and compare drawdown strategies (taxable-first, tax-deferred-first, pro-rata, and bracket-fill) side by side with the lifetime tax and ending balance for each. It also covers debt paydown (avalanche vs. snowball), a Solo 401(k) any-asset ledger with income logged under each asset and Form 5500-EZ, household coverage (a spouse as a second participant, children on payroll, and six trust types including survivorship), what-if scenarios you can adjust and save, a historical backtest through real market history, PDF reports, and net-worth history.
The fastest way to reach us is by email. Tell us what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened, and we'll help you sort it out.
